About Us

The Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Connecticut is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to optimizing the health and well being of the people in our region. Since 1909, VNASC and its predecessor organizations have been caring for everyone from the elderly who wish to remain in their homes for as long as they can and patients recovering from surgery or illness, to new mothers, schoolchildren, and the homeless. We use the most current medical advances and technologies in home healthcare, and strengthen community resources for everyone.

VNASC is made up of three major components – Home Health Care, School Health and Community Wellness. Each has its own set of goals and objectives, healthcare professionals, technologies and challenges.

We are fiscally strong, consistently meet the stringent quality assurance requirements of Medicare, insurance companies, and the many other organizations to which we are accountable, and regularly outpace other agencies in both outcomes and patient satisfaction.

While the future of healthcare may be uncertain, we believe that VNASC is going to continue to play a strong and very likely expanding role in the evolving story of how people in southeastern Connecticut live their best lives. Our vision is “to be the preeminent home and community health care provider in the region,” and we are continuing to meet that challenge.

Nurse-Family Partnership of Eastern Connecticut (NFP) is committed to helping eligible first-time mothers become successful in their new role. VNASC’s   team of maternal and child health nurses is extensively trained to practice with the evidence-based, home visiting, Nurse-Family Partnership nursing model.  Mothers partner with their own personal nurse from pregnancy through their child’s second birthday. Mothers participating in the program are more likely to have healthy pregnancies with fewer preterm and low birth weight newborns, are more likely to be successful at breastfeeding, have infants and toddlers who are healthy and meeting developmental milestones.

Nurse-Family Partnership of Eastern Connecticut is free to eligible mothers residing in New London and lower Middlesex Counties.
